Nigerian singer, Oladapo Oyebanjo, D’banj has been released by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), after almost 72 hours in custody.
It could be recalled that the music star was detained j on Tuesday over fraud allegations involving the N-Power programme.
Well, after almost 72 hours in custody, D’banj has been released by the ICPC.
According to reports, he was released on Friday afternoon, December 9th.
However, the singer can be summoned by the ICPC later.
Speaking about his release with Premium Times, D’banj’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi revealed that the singer cooperated with the Commission during its investigation.
According to him, D’banj was released on self-recognition but he didn’t confirm if the ICPC granted the singer administrative bail.
Pelumi Olajengbesi also revealed the ICPC didn’t trace any evidence of fraudulent activity to the legendary musician.
“Nothing incriminating was found on him. He was released on self-recognition. Right now, we expect the ICPC to give a letter of clearance to D’banj because, as we have always said, he is innocent of the charges brought against him,” he said.
