In a recent development, Grammy-winning Afrobeats superstar Damini Ogulu Ebunoluwa, better known as Burna Boy, has expressed his intention to pursue legal action against Nigerian bloggers for defamation.
This decision comes after a period of frustration with the negative portrayals he has received from these online publications.
Burna Boy, the self-proclaimed “African Giant,” has been vocal about his displeasure with the coverage he receives from Nigerian bloggers.
He has previously considered offering them a financial settlement to cease writing about him, but has now shifted his stance towards a more assertive approach.
In a message shared on his X (Twitter) page on November 15, Burna Boy hinted at his intention to hire a team of 100 lawyers to initiate legal proceedings against the bloggers.
His decision stems from a perception of being constantly targeted by negative stories and rumors.
“I was thinking of giving money to those Instabloggers back then, but now it seems like I should give it to like 100 lawyers,” Burna Boy wrote in Pidgin English. “But I know that everyone is hustling, so it will hurt me if I do that. Why are you pushing me?”
