A man who has yet to be recognized has been b*rnt to death in Abuja’s Ajata Kurudu neighbourhood for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
The motorcycle’s owner is claimed to have raised the alarm after being pursued by locals.
After apprehending him, the mob had him abl*zed in a nearby canal.
“A young man was found stealing a motorcycle and was b*rnt alive at Ajata Kurudu,” an eyewitness, identified only as Musa, told PUNCH.
“After he was robbed, the bike owner shouted for aid, and some residents ran after the suspect.” He was apprehended and beaten unconscious. He was drenched in gasoline and set ablaze..”
DSP Josephine Adeh, the Federal Capital Territory Police Public Relations Officer, said the incident was still being investigated.
“The FCT Police Command despises crime and criminality, but self-help in getting justice, often known as jungle justice, is unacceptable,” she stated. It’s a felony. We urgently urge people to let the cops do their job and avoid this heinous practice.”
